According to preliminary information, the girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan between 4.30 pm and 6 pm on November 4. “A 10-year-old girl died by suicide at her rented house here in Konaseema district. he election campaign for the Graduates constituency from Godavari districts will conclude by 4pm on Tuesday. The voting will be held on February 27 — from 8am to 4pm. Some 35 candidates are contesting the election. Election officer and the Eluru district collector, Vetri Selvi, said liquor shops should be closed from 4pm on February 25 to 4pm on February 27, by way of precaution to ensure peace. She said that the voters list will be available at the assistant election returning officer offices and the voters can verify their names in the list. She convened a meeting with the candidates at Eluru on Monday and advised them to cooperate with the administration for the smooth conduct of the elections without any hurdles. There are 3,14,984 voters. Some 456 polling centres have been arranged for the purpose. The eligible voters for this election number 42,383 in Eluru district. Those seeking to vote via postal ballot should send their votes in the cover provided to them by the returning officer. After completion of the polling, the ballot boxes will be stored at the strong rooms in the CR Reddy Engineering College at Vatluru village in Pedapadu mandal. The counting will be done on March 3 with 28 tables apart from another table for the postal ballot counting. The collector urged the candidates to send their agents’ list on Feb 25. After necessary checks with the police department, the agent lists would be declared. Later, Vetri Selvi along with joint collector Dhatri Reddy reviewed the polling arrangements. She said election equipment should be sent to the polling centres according to the check-list. Polling personnel have been given training for two times and the postal ballots should be stored at the strong rooms. She said complaints on the polling and elections can be given to officials by dialing the toll-free 1950 number. Some 71 zonal officers, 99 route officers etc were appointed for the elections. A reception centre has been set up at CR Reddy Engineering College. Amalapuram RDO Madhavi said the election personnel should gain awareness and knowledge of the election process and take care of ballot papers, as also protect them from any damage.

Amalapuram: In a major operation to curb the menace of illicit liquor, Andhra Pradesh Excise Department officials busted three spurious liquor manufacturing and distribution networks across Konaseema, West Godavari, and Anakapalli districts. The raids were conducted under the guidance of Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena and the supervision of Commissioner Nishant Kumar and Enforcement Director Rahuldev Sharma. In the first operation, officials from Amalapuram and Kakinada carried out a joint raid at Komaragiripatnam village in Allavaram mandal, Konaseema district. A large-scale illegal liquor manufacturing unit was found operating with 1,065 litres of spirit, 125 PET bottles labelled as ‘AC Black’, sealing machinery, fake caps, labels, and caramel used for liquor production. Eight persons, including Neredumilli Subrahmanyam and Chavvakula Premkumar alias Babloo, were arrested at the scene.
